My educational and professional background: After graduating from high school in 1983 I studied a freshman year at IUP in the US. Back in The Netherlands I studied History, Political Science and Law at the University of Amsterdam and completed my Masters Dutch Law and International Law in 1991. In 1992 I became fellow/lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University, where I earned my Ph.D. in Human Rights in 1999. You may want to check some publications of that era. In 1997 I was admitted to the bar and gained experience at a commercial law firm in Maastricht. Since 2005 I have been practising under my own name, representing and advising private individuals and entrepreneurs in various areas (advice and litigation, contracts and general terms and conditions, employment law and human rights). I tutor legal writing to fresh attorneys-at-law for the Dutch Law Association. I am arbitrator at E-court, member of the Vereniging van Nederlandse Jeugdrechtadvocaten (Lawyers Association for Dutch Juvenile Law) and coach of my son's soccer team. The picture above is not recently taken.
